Japan Australian Football League
Top League round 1 match at Osaka
31st
March 2007
Osaka Dingoes 6-6-42,
Tokyo Goannas 12-13-85
The Tokyo Goannas defence of their 2006 Top League title started with a
comfortable 43-point win away at Osaka.
At first-quarter time the Goannas had a two-goal lead and the game was
looking tight. However, the Goannas kicked well with the wind in the second
quarter to effectively decide the match then and there. Ronnie Rotten took
control up front early on to collect 5 goals, helped by some effective
delivery from a Goannas midfield led by Travis Robertson and Shane Flanagan.
In the second-half the Osaka Dingoes began to gel better as a team and
were able to pull back some goals mostly from counter-attack 'plays running
out of the Goannas' defence. Shunpei Nagasato, Damien Cole and Yousuke
Kawamura were the stand-out players for the Dingoes.
